The GroundSwell House Concert is a new pilot initiative for 2018-19. So far, we’ve sponsored local composers and performers to help them get their ideas out in the world. GroundSwell House Concerts are informal gatherings and recitals–an opportunity for performance, listening and discussion. It’s a great way to get up-close to new music with like-minded folks. Let us know if you have a project in the works!
House Concert #1: SOUNDYARD!
GroundSwell’s first house concert on November 23, 2018 was a great success thanks to the efforts of Ben Sellick and SoundYard. Also, big thanks to Elroy Friesen for the use of his beautiful home, and to the performers: Dexter Artates, Naomi Derksen, Bery Filsaime, Nathaniel Froese, Thomas Roberts, and Ben Sellick.
House Concert #2: SOLUS!
We were so pleased to sponsor local clarinetist extraordinaire, Amanda Forest, in Solus on April 13, 2019. The night was filled with premieres of new music, with works by: Leslie Basset, Chris Byman, George N. Gianopoulos, Andrew Noseworthy, Michelle Pegus, and Willyn Whiting. Congratulations to all involved!
House Concert #3: Lubomyr Melnyk – Continuous Music For The Summer Solstice
Join us on Sunday, June 23, for Lubomyr Melnyk – Continuous Music For The Summer Solstice. GroundSwell is delighted to be sponsoring ClearLightSound in an evening of Melnyk’s unique genre, Continuous Music. His incredible speed blends harmonic overtones and undertones into monumental melodic structures. Each concert is unique, balancing power and enormity with delicacy and beauty into transcendent experiences.
