New in 2026, GroundSwell is launching a new Education and Outreach initiative. This project will feature guitar as the primary instrument and will be facilitated by Winnipeg composer Guy Michaud. Mr. Michaud is also a guitarist and quite familiar with the guitar classroom setting having worked in the public school system for more than 25 years. He will be joined by the classroom teacher and musician (Mariachi Ghost) Gabriel Fields along with 18 of his high school students from Collège Louis-Riel. The students will be creating original music with the guidance of Michaud and Fields. Each session will focus on introducing new compositional techniques that should be applied by the student’s while respecting their artistic freedom in the creative process. The final phase of the project will involve rehearsing their music and preparing it for GS4: Echoes and Tracings, April 13, 2026.
