May 4, 2027 7:30PM St. Andrew's River Heights Church
Guest curated by Luis Ramirez

Guest curated by composer Luis Ramirez, the final concert of the season promises to be an engaging and thought-provoking event, pairing solo piano works of composers in teacher-student relationships: Philippe Leroux (Répéter…Opposer) and Quentin Lauvray (L’Épaisseur du Bleu), György Ligeti (L’escalier du diable) and Unsuk Chin (Toccata), and Arlan Schultz (Pli) and Jesse Plessis (Aria [di ringraziamento per l’esistenza dell’esistenza] Variata). This program will be performed by Jesse Plessis, an exceptionally talented pianist and composer based in Montreal who has ancestral roots in Manitoba. This program will feature world premieres of two GroundSwell commissions: one by Luis Ramirez, and one by Jesse Plessis, who will present a set of 34 variations, each of which is an expression of gratitude for various teachers, musicians, poets, artists, scientists, family, friends, and pets.
